Our destination was the Pico do Ferro viewpoint, a renowned lookout located in the middle of the island. As our vehicle navigated through the lush greenery of the island, I couldn't help but marvel at the myriad of flowers that adorned the landscape. It was as if the island was a garden in full bloom, painting a breathtaking canvas of colors against the azure backdrop of the sky.

The drive to Pico do Ferro was a spectacle in itself, but nothing quite prepared me for the sight that awaited at the viewpoint. As we stepped out, the panoramic view of two mesmerizing lakes nestled amidst the verdant hills took my breath away. The way the sunlight played on the water's surface, the contrast of the blue lakes against the green hills, and the serene tranquility that enveloped the place; it was a sight to behold.

But Pico do Ferro isn't just about the views. It carries a rich history that adds to its allure. It's said that this viewpoint has been a witness to the island's evolution over centuries, silently overlooking the lakes and vegetation that have transformed with time. It's more than just a viewpoint; it's a silent storyteller, narrating tales of the past through its stunning vistas.

As we stood there, taking in the sights, sounds, and the sweet fragrance of the blooming flowers, I felt a deep sense of connection with this place. It was a moment of tranquility, a moment to reflect and appreciate the beauty of our world.

Our visit to the Azores, and specifically to the Pico do Ferro viewpoint, was a memorable chapter in our transatlantic story. This little slice of paradise in the middle of the Atlantic ocean left an impression, and I can't wait to share more of these stops with you in the next one!
